In early January 2022, the website TreasureCoast.com posted this little ditty regarding my arrest December 27th, 2021 in Vero Beach, FL where I had legally resided since December 5th, 2021 following my recent medical retirement and honorable discharge from the US Army after 27 years of service:

It took just one week for the Indian River County Sheriff's Office to track down a former FBI intelligence analyst who fled from cyber stalking charges in Missouri.

"It's a perfect example of how this partnership works," said Sheriff's Office Det. Rob Ryan, who is a member of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.

The former analyst, identified as Gregory Roman, is accused of committing two counts of cyberstalking. The FBI's Omaha field office developed information that led agents to believe Roman had fled to Vero Beach and passed the information on to the Miami Division, which passed it along to the Ft. Pierce Field Office.

On Dec. 20, agents contacted Det. Ryan, who worked with the Sheriff's Office's Real Time Crime Center to further develop the information. Over the course of a week, they determined a vehicle registered to Roman was in the area and conducted surveillance.

Det. Ryan said the team has not been able to determine what caused Roman to flee to Vero Beach as he has no known family members or associates in the area.

Sheriff's Office detectives, including Ryan, waited near Roman's vehicle, parked at South Beach Park, for him to come up from the beach where he was arrested without incident.

Roman was later transferred to the FBI and taken to Fort Pierce.

As the old saying goes, “When fiction becomes fact, print the fiction”, and let me tell you “straight up” the above story is 99.9% pure fiction, but thanks to Mr. Josh Steppling at TreasureCoast.com, it was removed from their website March 30th, 2024 to be replaced* with this:

Former Kansas City FBI Intelligence Analyst Ambushed by US Marshal Led Joint Fugitives Task Force in Beach Parking Lot Two Days After Christmas-Indian River County, Florida (Substack.com).

After a full week of countless man hours, sleepless nights, and hourly non-stop progress reports updating every senior level law enforcement officer in Kansas City, Omaha, Miami, Fort Pierce and Vero Beach, a US Marshal from the “Fugitives Task Force” accompanied by three SWAT team officers, all in tactical gear and heavily armed, swooped in arrested Gregory Roman, a former FBI Intelligence Analyst in the Kansas City field office moments after he, along with his 5’2” 110lb female cousin, left the beach and were loading his vehicle with various beach going items.

Roman was placed in handcuffs which were a total compliment to the swim trunks, t-shirt, and flip flops he was wearing leaving him to be observed by numerous passersby and publicly humiliated for some 30 minutes or more as everyone waited for superstar FBI Special Agent Christopher Mayo, he of the Orlando Terrorist Night Club Attack investigation who bungled the interview he conducted with the terrorist’s wife so badly it led to her acquittal after she’d been charged by the Feds as some sort of knowing accomplice leading up to the incident, completely embarrassing the FBI yet again, to finally show up at the scene and take Roman to jail on a cyberstalking warrant issued in Missouri after Roman had legally and officially moved to Vero Beach earlier in the month.

Roman, arrested just two days after Christmas by a four man U.S. Marshal led Joint “Fugitive” Task Force which included Indian River County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) deputies/detectives who were all lying-in-wait surveilling his Florida tagged vehicle complete with a “VETERAN” license plate with a Florida registration dated December 20, 2021.

He had been living in Vero Beach since December 5th, 2021, took possession of his house (located less than 10 miles from the IRCSO station by the way) December 8th, 2021 after movers arrived in a HUGE 18 wheeler Atlas moving truck which contained his household goods they loaded a few days earlier in Kansas City, Missouri.

He also had his new Florida drivers license but none of that stopped the arresting authorities from feeding the media a BS line “Roman had fled Missouri and was hiding in Vero Beach” from a criminal complaint arrest warrant issued in Missouri he had no idea even existed.

Roman was eventually extradited to the Leavenworth USP in Leavenworth, Kansas.

I recently reached out to Detective Rob Ryan of the IRCSO in order to understand why he could so blatantly lie to the media regarding my arrest. I also asked him for an apology but as of this writing Detective Ryan has failed to respond to either request.

• Mark Baum: I don't get it. Why are they confessing?

• Danny Moses: They're not confessing.

• Porter Collins: They're bragging.

*One can only hope in this day and age where lies get halfway around the world before truth gets its pants on.
